2009 Honda CRF450R overview
The 2009 Honda CRF450R is a motocross and racing bike with a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 450cc SOHC four-stroke single and a five-speed transmission. New for 2009, it received an all-new lighter engine with Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) and an all-new HPSD-equipped aluminum frame with a longer swingarm and lower center of gravity. The Honda Progressive Steering Damper (HPSD) is standard equipment. A kickstarter, wet multiplate clutch, and adjustable KYB suspension complete the track-focused setup, with 12.2 inches of front travel and 12.6 inches at the rear. The CRF450R is not street legal in the United States.
Who it's for
This CRF450R is for motocross riders and racers who want a full-size 450cc four-stroke for track riding and competition. Its five-speed gearbox, long-travel KYB suspension, and HPSD-equipped frame suit riders focused on motocross rather than street use. The 37.6-inch seat height and kickstart-only setup are important practical considerations when choosing it for your riding and starting routine.
